13 June 2017
SEPANG – Malaysia Airports welcomes JC International Airlines (JC Cambodia), the Cambodian-registered airline, managed by China’s Yunnan Jingcheng Group, the parent firm of China’s Ruili Airlines to klia2 earlier this afternoon. The inaugural flight was welcomed with the traditional water turret salute by Malaysia Airports Airport Fire and Rescue Services. The twice a week flight service from Phnom Penh – Kuala Lumpur will be utilising its brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, which is configured as an all-economy class with 180 seats.
The successful inaugural flight of JC Cambodia at klia2 was followed by a small welcome ceremony organised by Malaysia Airports which was attended by the Senior General Manager of Malaysia Airports (Sepang), Zainol Mohd Isa and other senior management team of Malaysia Airports.
Sharing his delight on the inaugural flight of JC Cambodia to klia2, Zainol said, “Malaysia Airports is delighted to welcome JC Cambodia to klia2. The inclusion of JC Cambodia into the KLIA family specifically into klia2 will further promote KLIA’s status as a preferred hub in this region. In May 2017 alone, klia2 has recorded a total number of passenger movements of 2.5 million with a growth of 11.6% compared to the same period last year.”
“I believe with the launching of this new route, travellers now will have an option to use klia2 via JC Cambodia as a connector from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh and at the same time will attract more travellers from both countries to visit Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur and further explore what these beautiful cities has to offer. I am confident it will also enhance the image and reputation of JC Cambodia as a transportation conduit among air travelers in this region,” he added.
klia2 with its capacity to handle a total of 45 million passengers per annum (mppa) has been supporting the traffic growth of low cost carriers steadily over the last three years. The first quarter of 2017 had also shown strong passenger traffic numbers at the terminal, with a total of 7.2 million passengers handled in the first quarter of 2017, with international and domestic passenger movements at approximately 4.8 million and 2.3 million respectively.
klia2 had also undergone a few improvement initiatives over the last three years including the installation of additional 25 walkalators, bringing the total number to 42 units, as well as 24 hour buggy service for greater convenience of the passengers.
