SEPANG – Malaysia Airports ignites harmony during Deepavali with colours and lights through its celebration themed “KUL Colours and Lights” at KL International Airport this year.  This joyous Deepavali campaign is inspired by the vibrant elements of the auspicious celebration and aspires to bring joy to commemorate this year’s Festival of Lights.

Airport guests will be able to embrace and immerse themselves in the traditional Indian culture through a glamourous display of festive decoration, Indian dance performances and a variety of offerings that are unique and significant to the annual Deepavali celebration.

Commenting on the campaign and celebration, Nazli Aziz, Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager for commercial services said, “It is our goal to transform our airports into preferred destinations, hence we are focused on catering not only to travelers but also to the surrounding communities. We want people to know that the airport makes a great festive hub where everyone can gather to celebrate joyous occasions such as Deepavali. Our prime objective is to provide the best and most memorable experiences for all. This is part of our Total Airport Experience initiative as outlined in our five-year business plan, Runway to Success 2020 (RTS 2020).”

Complementing the dazzling ambience of the airport is the colourful kolam incorporating intricate patterns and bright coloured motifs. Like the myriad of colours of the kolam, ‘KUL Colours & Lights’ captures the essence of the beautiful and harmonious relationship of the multicultural community at the airport. Meanwhile, the colour yellow used in the festive decoration signifies happiness while other colours like red and blue are known to represent good fortune and peace. The other main feature of the decoration apart from the elaborate colours is the beautiful peacock that is regarded as an auspicious symbol in Hinduism.

Adding to the festivity is a series of activities which includes a social media contest where visitors are encouraged to take pictures with the Deepavali festive decorations at KLIA and klia2 terminals to redeem instant gifts at the airport. Visitors will also stand a chance to win exclusive prizes by tagging Malaysia Airports at #kulcoloursnlights from 2-20 October 2017. Other activities include the distribution of “Murukku,” a savoury Indian snack to visitors as well as the showcase of Indian cultural dance performances at both KLIA and klia2 terminals on Deepavali day itself.

“I truly hope that in our own special way, we are helping to spread the message of appreciating other cultures and beliefs in Malaysia and coming together as one community. We will continue to bring more unique joyful experiences to our passengers and visitors at the airports. In true spirit of celebrating Deepavali, we have lined up exclusive retail deals, delightful dining promotions and exciting gifts that are up for grabs at participating outlets,” added Nazli.
