Sibu Airport s terminal covers 6,300 sq. metres of floor space and features a 1,981-metre long runway. It is equipped to handle 1.4 million passengers annually and is ideal for accommodating Boeing 737 aircrafts, linking Sibu with KLIA and other parts of Borneo.
Located more than 10kilometres away from its precedence and at least 10 times more advanced in every aspect, naturally the new Sibu airport opened the aviation gateway much wider. Thus, enabling not only bigger aircrafts to come in but allowing bigger volume of traveler’s movement and stretching out the flights to even further destinations.
The actual official date of operation of the new airport began 1st of June 1994.
The maximum capacity of the parking apron is 1 Airbus, 2 Boeing 737-400s, 2 Fokker 50 and 2 Twin Otter or similar aircrafts. Only bay 2 and 3 are equipped with aerobridges functioning on Visual Docking and Guidance System.
