Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, India


RGIA is India's first Greenfield airport Private Public Partnership (PPP) in India.  The joint venture company incorporated between Airport Authority of India (AAI), State Government of Andhra Pradesh, GMR Group (GMR) and Malaysia Airports undertook the designing, financing, building, operating and maintaining this greenfield airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. Project development started in year 2004 and RGIA was inaugurated in March 2008. 


The concession is for the period of 30 years, with a further option to extend the concession by another 30 years. The brand new terminal is designed to handle 12 mppa. For two consecutive years in 2009 and 2010, RGIA was ranked number 1 among 49 airports in the airport services quality (ASQ) by the global body, Airports Council International (ACI) in the 5-15 mppa categories.
