DUBAI, 19 Sept - KL International Airport (KLIA) received the "Highly
Commended" award by OAG in the OAG Airport Marketing Awards 2006 in conjunction
with the 12th World Route Development Forum in Dubai.
Mr Duncan Alexander, the Managing Director of OAG handed over the award to Dato
Seri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director Malaysia Airports and was witnessed by
Tan Sri Datuk Dr Aris Othman, Chairman Malaysia Airports. The handing over ceremony
was held at the Malaysia Airports Chalet in the Networking Village. Officials
and partners of Malaysia Airports and Routes were also at the ceremony to witness
the joyous occasion.
"The award is highly prized for Malaysia Airports as it reflects our continuous
efforts in marketing KLIA as an important destination hub in the region. We
are very pleased with this achievement and we thank all our partners for their
great support," said Dato Seri Bashir Ahmad.
The OAG Marketing Awards is a yearly event taking place in conjunction with
the World Route Development Forum. The award is very important for airports
as it is voted for by the industry partners - the airline network planning community.
It recognises the outstanding achievements of airports in marketing their services
to airlines and to the travelling public.
Routes, as the forum is popularly known, is the world's largest airport-airline
gathering of its kind, with 300 airlines and 650 airports, including industry
organisations and manufacturers attended this most prestigious forum. Although
Routes focuses on air-route development for airlines and airports, it also has
a major impact on tourism and the overall economic development of nations. |
