| The Sultan Mahmud Airport is located 15km from Kuala Terengganu town and handles more than 500,000 passengers annually. |
In early 2008, the Malaysian Government approved plans to upgrade the Sultan Mahmud Airport into an international airport. Improvements will include runway extension and upgrade of the airport s terminal.
