Langkawi International Airport is situated on the duty-free island of Langkawi in Kedah. The airport is located at Padang Matsirat and is about 25 minutes drive from Kuah town.

The airport has been refurbished to cater to the increasing demand of the tourism and business industry. With an extended terminal and runway capable of accommodating B747 aircraft-type operation, the airport is equipped to handle 2.5 million passengers annually and 1,000 passengers during peak hours.

Langkawi is a tourist attraction because it serves as a venue for the biennial Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) which is an international aerospace event for aviation industry, with aero performances for the public. The island is also one of the most beautiful and magical tropical destinations in Southeast Asia, featuring beaches that are fringed with palm trees, duty-free shopping opportunities, as well as places of interest that revolve around the myths and legends of Langkawi.
