KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 – Bumiputera’s involvement in business at KL
International Airport (KLIA) and LCCT-KLIA is set to increase after Malaysia Airports
exchanged Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Entrepreneur
Development and Co-operative Development (MECD) at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC)
today.
This MoU will enable Malaysia Airports and MECD to collaborate in giving Bumiputera
the chance and opportunities to develop via marketing and product promotion at
premises provided by Malaysia Airports at KLIA.
Bumiputera entrepreneurship will be allocated five F&B kiosks at Food Garden
LCCT-KLIA, two F&B outlets at Contact Pier KLIA and one retail outlet at Block
C, Link Bridge, Main Terminal Building, KLIA.
Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports said:
“Malaysia Airports is very pleased to be given the opportunity to assist
MECD in helping Bumiputera entrepreneurs to further develop their business at
KLIA and LCCT-KLIA. This is also part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR)
activity, where we help Bumiputera entrepreneurs market their products.
Dato’ Bashir added: “Malaysia Airports will also help to promote their
business via our advertising and promotion channels such as KLIA TV, KLIA Times,
Fly.fm and also KLIA website.”
Currently, Bumiputera’s involvement at KLIA stood at 66% of the total retail
outlets and the number is set to increase with this collaboration.
The MoU was signed on August 23, 2007 where Malaysia Airports was represented
by Dato’ Seri Bashir and Umar Bustamam, General Manager of Commercial Services
while MECD was represented by Dato’ Musa Mohd, Director General and Zurina
bt Ahmad, Division Secretary. |
