In 1978 a Consultant Firm was appointed to select the new site for the new airport and proceed on the Master Plan Study on the layout of the new airport. The development plan of the new airport is to accommodate the F27 aircraft operation in the beginning and thereafter B737 aircraft operation.
The new Limbang Airport project started in 2000 and completed in 2004. With a new Runway of 1500 meter long to accommodate F50 Aircraft. The new airport located about 6 km North-West of Limbang Town.
This Limbang New Airport was officially opened on 7th April 2004 and full operational opened was on 15th April 2004.
