SEPANG – Malaysia Airports and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) (MBI) today marked a significant milestone in Malaysia’s aerospace journey with the launch of the Selangor Aero Park @ KLIA Aeropolis. This landmark development cements Malaysia’s position as a leading player in the region’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing landscape. Selangor Aero Park will attract high-impact investments across the aerospace supply chain including precision engineering, advanced manufacturing and integrated logistics services, while serving as a hub for innovation, talent development and technology transfer.

The Selangor Aero Park is a crucial element in the realisation of the vision of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 to generate RM55.2 billion in annual aerospace revenue and create over 32,000 high-income jobs by 2030. Spanning approximately 600 acres within KLIA Aeropolis, the park has a potential gross development value (GDV) of RM2.3 billion. It will be developed over several phases to ensure a well-planned and future ready investment environment.

The first phase of Selangor Aero Park spans 200 acres and is immediately available to potential investors, while the remaining parcels of approximately 400 acres will be progressively released beyond 2028 in accordance with infrastructure readiness and investor demand. A reflection of Selangor Aero Park’s appeal to investors is GE Aerospace’s commitment as the launch tenant, securing half of the first phase totalling 100 acres, to develop its engine test cell and MRO facility serving the region.

“Selangor Aero Park @ KLIA Aeropolis represents a significant milestone in our ambition to position Selangor as the region’s leading aerospace hub,” said YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Dato' Menteri Besar of Selangor. “By leveraging our strategic location, robust infrastructure, and industrial strengths, we are building an enabling ecosystem where global aerospace players and local SMEs can thrive.

“Selangor warmly welcomes investors with a comprehensive suite of business-friendly offerings - ranging from incentives to talent development programmes - ensuring long-term competitiveness and sustainable growth. This partnership underscores the state government’s steadfast commitment to positioning Selangor as the Heart of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry, further reinforcing the state’s aspirations to strengthen its role in advancing the national aerospace ecosystem,” he added.

The park is envisioned to offer a complete ecosystem of aerospace activities, encompassing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), aerospace parts manufacturing, avionics, propulsion and high-value electronics, as well as integrated logistics and advanced supply chain facilities. Designed to be people and workforce-friendly, Selangor Aero Park integrates smart security features such as CCTV with facial and vehicle-plate number recognition, solar-powered street lighting on smart poles, smart billing and maintenance monitoring, green parks, staff accommodations, and commercial amenities. foster a vibrant and connected community. Malaysia Airports is also promoting renewable energy across the park's facilities, including solar and rainwater harvesting, while training and workforce development initiatives by MBI will ensure a future-ready environment for Malaysia’s aerospace industries.

Strategically located within KLIA Aeropolis, Selangor Aero Park’s close proximity to the airport allows for direct access to Asia Pacific’s high-growth flight corridors and global markets, linking Malaysia’s aerospace value chain to local and international demands. The location also benefits from easy connection to Port Klang further strengthening its multi-modal logistics proposition.

The Selangor Aero Park development is designed to host aerospace and advanced manufacturing activities at scale, offering built-to-suit and fully-serviced facilities to cater to OEMs and Tier 1 aerospace players, as well as high technology and high value supply chain operators. It is also supported by a governance model led by Malaysia Airports and MBI to ensure seamless investment facilitation.

Malaysia Airports Chairman, Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi said that the development is a reflection of the airport operator’s commitment to drive long-term growth for the nation, “Selangor Aero Park is a catalyst for KLIA Aeropolis’ development into a vibrant aviation and logistics hub. This key milestone opens up multiple opportunities to enhance aviation-related infrastructure and services to meet the evolving needs of the industry and region. It is a significant milestone for KLIA Aeropolis, following the execution of a 99-year lease agreement with the government in November 2022, We are now on track to launch several key developments, beginning with Selangor Aeropark @ KLIA Aeropolis, demonstrating our unwavering commitment.”

The Selangor Aero Park is a synergistic aviation-linked development that will enhance the airport’s core operations while attracting global investments. The launch garnered strong interest from global aerospace players, with several companies currently in advanced discussions to establish operations within the park. The presence of MBI as a strategic partner representing the Selangor state ensures tenant-operators and investors at Selangor Aero Park benefit from fast track facilitation for business permits and development approvals, talent development programmes and incentives, thus providing confidence of a long-term strategic partnership. Selangor Aero Park @ KLIA Aeropolis is a testament to visionary collaboration that will result in new opportunities for Malaysia’s economy and its people.
