Malaysia Airports' early lunar new year "ang pows" for Rumah Kasih

Sixteen children from Rumah Kasih in Petaling Jaya received early "ang pows" from Malaysia Airports at KL International Airport (KLIA) today. The children's "ang pows" came in the form of new clothes and gifts ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year.

Partnering MELODY FM, Malaysia Airports organized this joint CSR initiative as part of its Lunar New Year 'Auspicious For The Horse Year 2014' celebrations. The aim was to spread some of the joy of giving and sharing in the run-up to the Lunar Year of the Horse.

Amongst the gifts presented to the children, aged between 5-17 years old, were new clothes and shopping vouchers. The children received their gifts from Malaysia Airports' representatives and MELODY FM radio announcers.

In addition to the gifts, the children were also treated to a full-day excursion to KLIA. Their day kicked off with a journey onboard the KLIA Ekspres train. The complimentary KLIA Ekspres train tickets were provided by Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL). At KLIA, they had lunch provided by McDonald's, shopped at KLIA's Satellite Building thanks to the complimentary RM150 shopping vouchers they each received from Malaysia Airports, and were hosted to tea by Old Town White Coffee Café.

Apart from shopping, the children enjoyed games and activities led by MELODY FM's radio announcers. One of the activities was a Royal Selangor School of Hard Knocks contest where the children experienced making pewter bowls using only traditional tools. Prizes were given out to winners of the games.

From 23rd of January till 16th of February, KLIA will host an array of activities in conjunction with the Lunar New Year at both the Main Terminal and Satellite Buildings. Amongst them are lion dances, God of Prosperity walk-about, mask changing performances, traditional Chinese dances and Tuho, a Chinese traditional arrow shooting game.

The Lunar New Year festive celebrations form part of Malaysia Airports' annual Indulge Till You Fly Campaign, a drive to raise awareness on the dual roles of international airports - as transportation hubs and as lifestyle destinations. It extends on this year's ITUF Campaign Wonderland theme.

Under the ITUF Campaign, those who spend a minimum of RM250 at any F&B or retail outlets will be eligible to take part in the Indulge & Win Contest and win instant cash shopping vouchers worth RM10. MasterCard users will be given the privilege to double their entries and shopping vouchers claim.

So, if you are one of those who need to indulge in some last-minute shopping before you fly home, you may just be rewarded with a bigger "ang pow" to bring home if you shop at KLIA. If you spend a minimum of RM50 at any of the retail or food-and-beverage outlets at KLIA, you will be able to play games and spin the Wheel of Fortune and win Chinese New Year goodies such as fortune cookies, sweets in jars or 'ang pow' packets.

The ITUF Campaign has received an overwhelming response, thanks to its grand prize of RM1,000,000 and the opportunity to shop in seven shopping capitals of the world. To date, Malaysia Airports has received 151,073 entries for the Indulge & Win contest, a 14.12 per cent increase from last year.

More information on the Campaign can be found at the dedicated Indulge Till You Fly website (www.malaysiaairports.com.my/indulge).
