Boosting Domestic Tourism With Klia Crazy Sale, Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Mini Travel Fair And Airport Staycation Packages

Enjoy discounts on travel-exclusive, duty absorbed products, travel packages and unique staycation experiences from 26 to 31 August 2020 during the first ever airport-wide sales event

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports is continuing its efforts in helping industry and retail partners overcome the impact of COVID-19 by coming up with unique offerings through smart collaboration with partners. The first ever airport-wide sales event at KL International Airport (IATA Code: KUL) is expected to help airport retailers reach out to a wider market whilst offering phenomenal discounts on travel-exclusive, duty-absorbed products to the public. Apart from this, the airport operator has joined hands with Tourism Malaysia to organise the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Mini Travel Fair in conjunction with the KLIA Crazy Sale. As an added value, the airport through its subsidiary Sama Sama Hotel KLIA will be offering a limited opportunity for guests to enjoy exclusive and unique airport experiences through the Airport Staycation package.

The sale and travel fair will take place at Level 5, Departure Area and Anjung Tinjau in KLIA Main terminal from 26 – 31 August 2020 which coincides with the long National Day celebration weekend.

According to Malaysia Airports’ group chief executive officer, Dato’ Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh, the KLIA Crazy Sale will provide airport retailers with an additional venue to market their offerings, “This is the first time we are organising such an event. Previously, the market for our retailers are limited to mainly passengers due to their location on the airside that is not accessible to non-passengers. With lower passenger volumes, their sales have been significantly impacted. With this sale, we can help improve their sales performance. Additionally, non-travelling public can also now enjoy a wide range of heavily discounted travel exclusives and duty absorbed products by big-name duty-free players such as Eraman, Valiram, Heinemann and Lagardere. There will also be other retailers such as Karyaneka to offer attractive deals.”

“The entire travel industry has been affected. It is important we help each other in overcoming this crisis. The Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Mini Travel Fair is in line with the Domestic Tactical Push (DTP) joint strategy that we have developed with Tourism Malaysia to induce the recovery of domestic travel and economy. We have invited local airline partners, travel agents, product owners and hotels to participate in this travel fair and offer exciting deals to the public. As travel restrictions are steadily easing, we hope that Malaysians can once again look forward to travelling locally through this event. We are confident of a positive turnout and are expecting an average of 3,000 visitors per day,” he added.

Apart from discount offers up to 70% on items ranging from perfumes and cosmetics, chocolate and confectionery to fashion and lifestyle, there are various other attractive deals such as free parking and gifts given out with a minimum spend. Shoppers can also stand a chance to win shopping vouchers worth up to RM3,000 per day in the daily lucky draw.

Held in conjunction with the mega event is also the first ever Airport Staycation Package by Sama Sama Hotel KLIA for families to experience an exclusive tour and exciting fire-fighting simulation activities at the Airport Fire Station on the airside. On top of that, there will be baking classes for the kids at the hotel while the adults indulge in the KLIA Crazy Sale with special access privilege provided through the package.

Guests attending this event will have no cause for worry as many safety measures at both the airport and hotel are in place. All public areas at the airport are sanitised once every three hours and guests must go through thermal scanning, physical distancing measures and mandatory use of face masks. Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports would like to remind all guests attending the event to adhere to the implemented safety measures and protocols for the benefit of all.
