SEPANG – Malaysia Airports has announced Berk Albayrak as the covering chief executive officer (CEO) to helm Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG) following the resignation of Ersel Goral effective 27 April. The Board and the Management had expressed regrets on Goral’s departure and extend their gratitude to Goral for his valuable contribution and leadership at ISG from 2017.

According to Malaysia Airports’ Group CEO, Dato’ Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh, Goral has served as CEO of ISG for the past 3.5 years and has been integral to the progress and growth that the organisation has made at ISG. “We would like to express our sincere thanks for his efforts and leadership and on behalf of the Board and Management, we wish him only the best in his future undertakings,” Dato’ Mohd Shukrie said.

With 11 years of working experience in ISG, Albayrak has held various positions including chief operating officer and was the technical services director prior to this appointment. Previously, Albayrak was also the department manager for Limak and GMR Joint Venture, director of the construction division for DHMI Turkey and assistant project manager for Baki Group of Companies. As the aviation industry continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, the Group is focused on ensuring the safety, stabilisation and survival for all of its airports. The alignment of its business towards recovery will be critical and it is confident that ISG is well positioned to take advantage of new ideas and opportunities for the sustainability and continued growth of its business during these challenging times and beyond
