Klia2 Maintenance Progress Series 5

SEPANG – This is the fifth installment in the infographics report series on the klia2 maintenance progress. In this December report series, we are pleased to share that the new maintenance method - grouting injection that we have been piloting from August 2015 to replace the installation of precast slab, have been successfully completed at all nine locations scheduled for works in 2015, thereby successfully reducing the occurrance of ponding at klia2 in the past two months.

We are also pleased to share that Malaysia Airports had completed another two locations originally planned for 2016 ahead of schedule. Therefore, the remaining planned locations for grouting injection works scheduled for 2016 have now been reduced to 39.

Grouting injection is a process of filling the cracks, voids or honeycombs, either in or underneath concrete, with cement grout in order to reduce the severity of the depression. Apart from causing less disruption to airport operations as no open excavation work is required, it also showed significant improvement in the occurrence of sudden depression, whereby it has reduced from 14mm to 9mm per month.

It is our hope that by sharing this information, the public will have first-hand information and a greater understanding of the actual situation and not be influenced by speculation. The infographic reports are available at www.malaysiaairports.com.my and our official social media platform – Malaysia Airports (Facebook), @MY_Airports (Twitter) and Malaysia Airports (Instagram).

Malaysia Airports continues to collaborate closely with all our stakeholders to ensure that all parties such as airlines and DCA constantly engaged on operational issues.
