Klia2 Maintenance Progress Series 6

SEPANG – This is the sixth installment in the infographics report series on the klia2 maintenance progress. In this January report series, we are pleased to share the successful implementation of grouting injection to replace the installation of precast slabs.

The progressive maintenance at klia2 began in August 2015 with precast slab installation and overlaying works to address ponding and differential settlement. In October 2015, grouting injection method was adopted which has proven to be more effective with minimum disruption to airport operations.

As of January 2016, all 9 locations scheduled for maintenance in 2015 had been completed. We are pleased to report that Malaysia Airports managed to complete another two locations ahead of schedule, leaving only 39 locations for 2016 instead of 41 locations as planned previously. As a result from the maintenance done, differential settlement has been significantly reduced from 14mm to 9mm per month. This has successfully reduced the occurrence of ponding at klia2.

It is our hope that by sharing this information, the public will greater understanding of the actual situation and not be influenced by speculation. The infographic reports are available at www.malaysiaairports.com.my and our official social media platform – Malaysia Airports (Facebook), @MY_Airports (Twitter) and Malaysia Airports (Instagram).

Malaysia Airports continues to collaborate closely with all our stakeholders to ensure that all parties such as airlines and DCA constantly engaged on operational issues.
