Malaysia Airports Assists Staff Affected By Flood In Kota Bharu

KOTA BHARU – Malaysia Airports continues to assist flood victims in the East Coast by contributing food supplies worth RM22,000.00 to 25 of its staff who were affected by the flood in Kota Bharu.

The affected employees received the food supplies which were presented by YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, Chairman of Malaysia Airports. Each employee also received ‘wang zakat’ of RM2,000 from Malaysia Airports.

On top of this, Malaysia Airports had also sent volunteers from its Corporate Office to assist the affected staff and their families. These volunteers will remain at Kota Bharu until the situation improves for the affected employees.

Malaysia Airports had also channeled the food aid and ‘wang zakat’ to affected staff at Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport, Kuantan, Pahang (five affected staff) and Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (ten affected staff).

Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz said, “We hope this aid will ease some of their sufferings and hopefully can provide some compensation for their loss of property. We are doing what we can to help them rebuild their lives again. This is also part of our corporate responsibility programme for staff welfare as employee wellbeing remains one of our top priorities.”

Malaysia Airports is also grateful that none of the airports in East Coast under its management are affected by the flood and are able to continue operations normally, with no flight cancellations. This has enabled the airports to be one of the points to receive and send aid supplies to the affected areas.

While all the East Coast airports are operating normally, the roads to the airports may be affected by the floods. Hence, passengers are advised to check with the relevant state authorities for the latest situation on road accessibility and make necessary arrangements for transportation. Passengers are also advised to contacts the respective airlines to confirm the flight schedules for these airports.
