Malaysia Airports Continues Its Joyful Malaysia Initiative With Kelantan Tourism

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports continues its Joyful Malaysia initiative by collaborating with Kelantan Tourism. This is the fourth collaboration with a state tourism agency in bringing the Malaysian experience to KL International Airport (KLIA) in line with our mission to provide joyful experiences to airport visitors.

Starting 9 September, Kelantan Tourism is showcasing their cultural heritage through performances such as silat, dances, dikir barat and wayang kulit every Saturday and Sunday until 1 October 2017 at both terminals in KLIA. Apart from highlighting Kelantan’s rich heritage, this initiative is also meant to promote the state as a premier tourism destination.

To kick-off the collaboration, YB Mejar (B) Dato’ Hj Md Anizam Ab Rahman, Chairman of Culture, Tourism and Heritage Kelantan launched the Kelantan Pavilion that is located at the Departure Area, Level 3, klia2. Visitors to the airport will be able to obtain travel information such as hotel accommodation, places of interest, events, festivals, as well as shopping deals and promotions in Kelantan at the Kelantan Pavilion.

On top of this, international arriving passengers were also treated to a special welcome reception at the klia2 International Arrival Hall. The welcome reception was graced by the Mejar (B) Dato’ Hj  Md Anizam Ab Rahman and wife, Datin Nor Asikin Hj Ahmad, together with managing director of Malaysia Airports, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali and wife, Datin Rogayah Ibrahim. The welcome reception saw passengers being greeted with an exquisite cultural performance by the Kelantan dance troupe. They were also presented with unique souvenirs from Kelantan as welcome gifts.

According to Badlisham, apart from creating joyful experiences, this initiative is meant to contribute towards achieving the country’s target of 36 million tourist arrivals by 2020.

“As proud Malaysians, we take pride in having such a rich and diverse culture. We believe Malaysia Airports has the perfect platform to reach out and share our culture with visitors to our country,” he added further.

Said Mejar (B) Dato’ Hj  Md Anizam, “This our first collaboration with Malaysia Airports and this initiative is part of our efforts in promoting Kelantan Tourism 2017 with the theme of ‘Kelantan Di Hati’. In 2016, Kelantan received about 5.8 million tourist arrivals, more than 75% of which are local tourists. We hope that we will be able to better this number through such collaboration.”

The Kelantan Tourism dance and cultural performances will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 September to 1 October 2017 at specific times (10.00 am – 11.00 am; 2.00 pm – 3.00 pm in klia2 and 5.00 pm – 6.30 pm in KLIA Main). There will also be special traditional dance performances at Agro Bazaar Outlet klia2 on specific days (16 – 17 Sept; 23 – 24 Sept and 30 Sept – 1 Oct) at 12.30 pm.

Malaysia Airports will continue to collaborate with the other state tourism agencies in the coming months.
