Malaysia Airports Managing Director Badlisham Ghazali Appointed as Director on ACI World Governing Board

Mauritius - Malaysia Airports is pleased to announce the appointment of our managing director, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, as a director in Airport Council International’s (ACI) World Governing Board.

Datuk Badlisham who has been a Director of ACI’s Regional Asia-Pacific Board since 2016, joined other leaders of ACI at its World Governing Board meeting held on 14 October 2017 in Port Louis, Mauritius. He is currently attending the General Assembly held in conjunction with the  27th ACI Africa/World Annual General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition from 16 to 18 October 2017. ACI is the only global airport organisation that provides a platform for member organisations to address as well as advance the collective interests of about 2,000 airports worldwide.

Critical issues such as airport charges, slot management, baggage tracking, environment and technology were discussed during the Board deliberations. The Board had also deliberated upon its new three-year Strategic Plan (2018-2020) which was approved during the same meeting. Additionally, the Board had also addressed strategic projects to be initiated that will further represent airports’ interests, promote airport excellence, and safeguard the interests of the travelling public.

Commenting on his latest appointment to ACI’s highest governing body, Badlisham said, “It is a privilege and honour to represent Malaysia and the Asia Pacific Region in the world body. Malaysia has a lot to learn from the global airport community and as one of the large airport networks has also a lot to share with others".

During the event Malaysia Airports also received an award for its contribution in supporting excellence in safety at airports.

This year’s theme for the 27th ACI Africa/World General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition is “Bold Leadership in a Time of Change”. More than 500 delegates are expected to attend the event from across the globe. At the Assembly, delegates will vote on several key issues discussed by the World Governing Board towards shaping and determining airports’ contribution and performance within the aviation industry.

Badlisham will also be speaking as a panellist during the conference to share his thoughts on airports’ digital transformation which has increasingly become an expected and critical element in productivity and passenger service deliverance. As outlined in our five-year business plan , Runway to Success 2020 (RtS2020), Malaysia Airports has embarked on a digital transformation through its big data analytics initiative. This initiative is meant to improve our agility in responding to market and stakeholder needs.
