SEPANG – Malaysia Airports upheld its commitment to corporate integrity by extending the signing of the Corporate Integrity Pledge to the senior management of Malaysia Airports today. Malaysia Airports was among the first corporations to sign the Corporate Integrity Pledge when it was launched in 2011 by Performance Management Delivery Unit (PEMANDU). As of February 2015, only a total of 512 companies comprises of public, private and NGO sectors have signed the pledge.
Malaysia Airports has from the beginning implemented various policies and guidelines of corporate governance and anti-corruption which aims to eliminate corruption amongst our employees and clients such as, Code of Ethics and Conduct, whistleblowing policy, asset declaration, no gift policy, and vendor integrity pact.
This signing signifies the unilateral declaration by Malaysia Airports against corrupt practices and announces its resolve to work towards a highly principled Malaysian business environment.
In his speech, Y.Bhg. Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports said, “Towards further strengthening our commitment on anti-corruption, Malaysia Airports has established the Corporate Integrity Unit on 15 August 2014 as an independent party to enhance Malaysia Airports’ integrity and ethics. A Senior Officer from Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) was seconded to Malaysia Airports to setting up and led this new unit.”
He added further that the responsibility to fight corruption cannot be dependent on this unit alone, leaders of the organisation will have to show a good example to the rest of the employees in the company.
At the end of 2014, Malaysia Airports also conducted a survey on corporate integrity which will serve as blueprint for risk assessment, areas of improvement and a general indicator of the company’s corporate integrity.
Datuk Badlisham ended his speech by saying, “we are an organisation that places a premium on good governance and integrity.”
Also in attendance at Malaysia Airports’ signing ceremony for corporate integrity pledge were Y.Bhg. Datuk Haji Mustafar Ali, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Senior Management of Malaysia Airports.
