Malaysia Airports Welcomes Lufthansa German Airline Non Stop Flight

Kuala Lumpur, 31 March 2014 - Lufthansa to link Kuala Lumpur non-stop with the largest European network

With the start of the summer flight schedule on 31 March 2014, Lufthansa will be switching the previous flight from Kuala Lumpur to Frankfurt to a non-stop flight. At the same time, capacities and frequencies will be extended. In the future, Lufthansa passengers will have a choice of five flights per week from Kuala Lumpur to Lufthansa's Frankfurt hub with a choice of convenient onward connection to more than 170 destinations in Europe and beyond.

The Airbus A340-600 will be equipped with eight seats in Lufthansa's five-star First Class, 48 seats in the Business Class and 270 seats in the Economy Class. "We are delighted to be able to offer our passengers in Malaysia a non-stop flight and an even better offer of connections. Our hub in Frankfurt not only offers the widest choice of destinations all over Europe, but was also recently honoured by Skytrax as the airport with most improvements worldwide. Lufthansa's new A-Plus terminal area and the optimal flight and transfer times put us in the pole position in Malaysia for flights to Europe. We have also thus taken the wishes of our business passengers for conveniently scheduled evening flights into account which offer them a timesaving and efficient connection to Europe" says Paurus Nekoo, General Manager Malaysia of Lufthansa German Airlines. "I am very proud, only few months after taking up my new position as Lufthansa General Manager Malaysia, to be able to inform our customers and partners in this country about a new non-stop flight

Lufthansa already started flights to Malaysia for the first time in 1980 and up to now has offered the service with a stop-over in Bangkok. "The current development of demand in Malaysia, the positive economic growth here, the successful investments of German and European companies in the region and the successes of Malaysia as a top tourist destination, make us very optimistic about the success of a direct flight between Malaysia and Europe", says Paurus Nekoo.

Mr. Nekoo also gave his thanks to Malaysia Airports for the close cooperation over the past decades. Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports thanked the Lufthansa management for the support in ensuring continuous operations and expressed his appreciation of Lufthansa's confidence in the Malaysian market: "Malaysia Airports welcomes Lufthansa's decision to start non-stop flights from its hub in Frankfurt, Germany by the first quarter of 2014. After operating close to a decade via an intermediate point, these non-stop flights reflect the increased importance of the Malaysian market to Lufthansa. These direct services augur well for the Visit Malaysia Year 2014."

The new flights can be booked as of now via www.lufthansa.com and all the other booking channels.
