Public Invited To klia2 Open Day To Experience The World's Largest Purpose-Built Terminal Dedicated To Low Cost Carriers

Kuala Lumpur, 23 April 2014 - Public will be presented with the opportunity to experience and explore klia2 before its opening on 2 May as Malaysia Airports is giving preview of the world's largest purpose-built terminal for low cost carriers on Sunday, 27 April 2014 at the klia2 Open Day.

The klia2 Open Day is open to all public, with registration starting at 9.00am and programmes will commence at 10.00am and end at 5.00pm. There will be lots of fun activities awaiting visitors including the chance to tour the airport terminal to get a real feel of both the domestic and international as well as departure and arrival processes at the new terminal. Mock boarding passes will be issued to visitors upon registration as a souvenir of the visit to klia2 Open Day. Another not-to-be-missed opportunity is to view and experience the klia2 Skybridge, the first in Asia and only the third airport Skybridge in the world.

There will also be bus tours to the new Runway 3 and other airside facilities offered to all visitors. Keeping in trend with the current selfie craze, Malaysia Airports has also lined up a mobile photo contest, where visitors can capture their best moments at klia2 and winning photos will win attractive prizes. For children, there will be colouring contests for those aged 5-8 years and 9-12 years.

Buskers and stroller bands will be entertaining the crowd at klia2 Open Day, and you may even spot special appearances by celebrities at the terminal.

Visitors may also experience shopping and dining at gateway@klia2, as some of the outlets including food and beverage will be operating on April 27.

For security purposes all visitors will be subjected to screening process by airport security before entering the terminal tour route. Therefore, we would like to remind the public not to carry any restricted and prohibited items such as sharp objects to the airport.

Public can drive straight to klia2 and parking is provided free with 6,000 covered parking lots at Blocks A & B and another 5,500 lots at car park D. Shuttle buses are available to ferry the public from the car park D to the terminal. Bus services will also be provided at KLIA and LCCT-KLIA every half an hour starting from 9.00am until 5.00pm to ferry visitors to klia2 Open Day.

The access to klia2 is approximately 6km from the KLIA Toll Plaza and immediately after the KLIA-inbound Petronas station. Visitors are to watch out for the klia2 signage on the left hand side indicating the exit to klia2.

Nik Anis Nik Zakaria, General Manager of Corporate Communications, Malaysia Airports said, "The klia2 Open Day will give visitors the insight of what klia2 will offer and the opportunity to experience the brand new terminal before it opens for operations on May 2. This is a not-to-be-missed lifetime experience, with lots of fun-filled activities awaiting visitors. We are looking forward to host and treat the visitors to a memorable experience at klia2."

As Malaysia Airports is expecting around 20,000 visitors at the klia2 Open Day, passengers travelling via KLIA and LCCT-KLIA on 27 April are advised to plan their journey ahead and continue to observe proper time management to ensure they arrive at the terminal in timely manner for their flights.
