Sepang, 17 February 2015 – If you think that shopping is only for ladies, think again! Adventure and gaming buddies, Lim Ming Yang, 30, and Chong Voon Kiat, 43, love shopping (not your typical male, right?) and their “love” have won them RM 8,000 cash vouchers to shop their hearts out at klia2!
“Chong and I became friends because of our common interest particularly in online games. We are both also avid listeners of MixFM so when we hear about the KLIA/klia2 Shopping Hunt we decided to go online and give it a shot,” said Lim.
Chong chipped in: “While playing the Shopping Hunt, we found that we both also liked shopping but never in our wildest dream would we think that we would win the grand prize!”
To add to their windfall, the duo spent their “winnings” shopping at klia2 for their wife and girlfriend – just in time for the upcoming Lunar New Year! “We’ve not been to klia2. We didn’t realise that there are so many retail shops here! As Malaysians, we should be proud to have an international airport like klia2!” exclaimed Lim.
Items that made it to the duo’s shopping list included smart phones and tablets.
Second prize winners of the KLIA/klia2 Shopping Hunt were father-and-daughter team of Chai Koh Khai, 61 and Chai Kye Lii, 18. They walked away with RM 5,000 worth of cash vouchers. Third prize went to old friends, Zahar bin Amir and Ahmad Daud Abd Manan, who won RM2,000 in cash vouchers.
The KLIA/klia2 Shopping Hunt was organised in collaboration with MYFM, SINARfm and MIXfm. For two weeks, listeners who wanted to participate had to log on to the respective stations’ websites and played an online memory game, matching products with logos in the shortest possible time. Each radio station then selected five names (finalist would find a partner to form a team) and the final 15 teams will battle it out at klia2 at the finale for the grand prize.
In addition to the three main prizes, there were a myriad of consolation prizes as well. In all, RM17,000 worth of cash vouchers were given out. All the winners had until 8.30pm the same day to spend it all at our very own airport in the mall.
The Shopping Hunt was organised to provide participants a fun avenue to experience and explore klia2, especially for the first timers who have yet to explore our shopping haven in klia2.
