20 New International Destinations And 80 Additional Domestic Flights Expected To Boost Air Travel

SEPANG – A total of 20 new international destinations and 80 additional domestic flights are expected to boost air travel further for the network of airports operated by Malaysia Airports including its Turkish asset, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG). Some of the new destinations include Hamburg, Basel, Zurich, Sarajevo, Copenhagen, Lyon, and Hannover for flights from ISG with up to 25 weekly frequencies. At KLIA, Malaysia’s flag carrier Malaysia Airlines has reinstated destinations such as London and Jakarta.

Malaysia Airports’ Fully Owned Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport is 5th Busiest Airport in Europe

SEPANG – In October 2020, Eurocontrol announced that Malaysia Airports’ overseas asset Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (IATA Code: SAW) in Turkey was ranked as the fifth busiest airport in Europe, registering a daily average of almost 500 flights. Eurocontrol is the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. The Malaysia Airports group’s sustainability is well supported by the encouraging recovery seen at SAW in the last several months. Since July 2020, passenger traffic at SAW contributed more than 50% to the group’s total.
