Galloping start to the year of the horse at KLIA

The horse has landed at KL International Airport (KLIA)!

To usher in the year of the horse, Malaysia Airports has transformed Level 5 (Departure Hall) of its Main Terminal Building into a cherry blossom garden overhung with giant revolving lanterns. No doubt the Wooden Horse would feel most at home!

From 23rd of January till 16th of February, KLIA will organise a host of activities in conjunction with the Lunar New Year at both the Main Terminal and Satellite Building. Amongst them are lion dances, God of Prosperity walk-about, mask-changing performances, traditional Chinese dances and Tuho, a Chinese traditional arrow shooting game.

If you are one of those who need to indulge in some last-minute shopping before you fly home, you may just be rewarded with a bigger "ang pow" to bring home if you shop at KLIA. If you spend a minimum of RM50 at any of the retail or food-and-beverage outlets at KLIA, you will be able to play games and spin the Wheel of Fortune and win Chinese New Year goodies such as fortune cookies, sweets in jars or 'ang pow' packets.

On the subject of "ang pows", for the Year of the Horse, Malaysia Airports recently teamed up with Melody FM for its Lunar New Year CSR initiative. Themed 'Gift of Hope', the initiative involved buying new clothes and gifts for the children of Rumah Kasih in Petaling Jaya. The children received their gifts from Malaysia Airports' representatives and MELODY FM radio announcers at KLIA on 25 January. The aim was to spread some of the joy of giving and sharing in the run-up to the Lunar Year of the Horse.

The Malaysia Airports' "Auspicious for the Horse Year 2014", forms part of its overall Indulge Till You Fly Campaign (ITUF), a drive to raise awareness on the dual roles of international airports - as transportation hubs and as lifestyle destinations. Under the ITUF Campaign, those who spend a minimum of RM250 at any F&B or retail outlets will be eligible to take part in the Indulge & Win Contest and win instant cash shopping vouchers worth RM10. MasterCard users will be given the privilege to double their entries and shopping vouchers claim.

The ITUF Campaign has received an overwhelming response, thanks to its grand prize of RM1,000,000 and the opportunity to shop in seven shopping capitals of the world. To date, Malaysia Airports has received 151,073 entries for the Indulge & Win contest, a 14.12 per cent increase from last year.

More information on the Campaign can be found at the dedicated Indulge Till You Fly website (www.malaysiaairports.com.my/indulge). Travellers may also want to log in to The Indulge at Malaysia Airports Facebook page (www.facebook.com/IndulgeMalaysiaAirports) and download some of the discount coupons available before heading out to the airport.

The 2013/2014 ITUF Campaign is being held from 10 July 2013 till 28 February 2014.
