We explore new opportunities and invest in initiatives that strengthen the social well-being and relationships with local communities at our airports to promote these five SDGs:

GOAL 1
End poverty in all its forms everywhere and ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services by 2030.

GOAL 3
Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

GOAL 4
Provide opportunities to quality education for all primary and secondary school students and ensure the acquiring of essential knowledge and skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship amongst students.

GOAL 10
Empower and promote social, economic and political inclusion of all regardless of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or statuses.

GOAL 17
Encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
To ensure these goals are supported continuously, several programmes have been designed by Malaysia Airports to benefit the community:
Investing in Our Community
The nature of our efforts to support and strengthen the local community is reflected in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Framework built on three main pillars which are Education and Youth Leadership, Community Enrichment and Malaysia Branding.
High Fliers Programme
We focus on elevating the academic achievements, leadership and skills of students. The High Fliers programme was launched in 2017 for our employees’ children studying in secondary schools. Students were chosen based on merit, with the aim of enhancing their leadership capabilities and nurturing a high performing mindset through active learning, character development and team building activities throughout their secondary school education. The High Fliers programme will continue through 2021 with the current group of outstanding students.
Education Scholarship Programme
We believe in nurturing young talent by assisting outstanding individuals to pursue tertiary education at the best local and international universities. Our Education Scholarship Programme (ESP) continues to aid outstanding students who are usually from low to middle income families to pursue their tertiary studies at top universities. Since its inception in 2010, our Education Scholarship Programme has benefited 50 scholars at universities in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States.
Beyond Borders School Adoption Programme
Beyond Borders is a three-year programme targeted for primary school students to improve English proficiency through learning English in a fun and engaging way. Since its inception in 2007, 32 schools nationwide have been adopted under the programme and have impacted nearly 30,000 students. We have adopted four new primary schools in 2017, focusing on underprivileged schools in communities surrounding Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and will continue to benefit 2,000 students from these schools until the end of 2019.
Celebrating Malaysian Culture
As the custodian of Malaysia’s gateways into the country, we are in a good position to promote Malaysian culture and heritage to an international audience. We have collaborated with various state and federal tourism agencies to promote the Malaysian experience at our airports.

Airport@Sports
We also encourage active participation in sports amongst school children as part of our Education and Youth Leadership efforts to develop teamwork and leadership skills that could not be learned in classrooms. We continue to organise football clinics for primary school students from communities around KL International Airport (KLIA). We have also been the sponsor of the Malaysia Super Schools Rugby Fifteens since 2013 and will continue to elevate sporting standards and participation among school students.
