He then went on to say, “I am proud and honoured to receive this prestigious award on behalf of Malaysia Airports. Since I joined the company more than a year ago, I noticed a strong sense of comradeship and a spirit of oneness that bind us together. We have been through many difficult and trying times but we managed to remain resolute and stand tall as a team. We persevered. This award goes to all the staff for their dedication and commitment in bringing Malaysia Airports to greater heights.”

The award was judged based on several criteria such as human capital development; commitment towards employee health and safety; provision of staff facilities; as well as implementation of community and environmental programmes, to name a few. For the win, Malaysia Airports received a trophy, RM10,000.00 cash award and a Certificate of Appreciation. Malaysia Airports also took part in the cultural performance by performing a dance to convey the spirit of 1Malaysia in Malaysia Airports.

In pursuing excellence, Malaysia Airports places strong emphasis on human capital development. The formation of the Talent and Performance Unit, Training Management Unit as well as various leadership and talent pool programmes stands as a testament to our endeavours.

Staff well-being and engagement is one of Malaysia Airports’ six strategic pillars. Apart from staff facilities such as hostel, cafeteria, gymnasium and football field as well as medical benefits for employees and family members, Malaysia Airports also practices Management Visibility, where its senior management team members are encouraged to actively participate at various engagement avenues such as sports carnival and sporting / health facilities, annual events and regular town hall sessions,  among others.

Strong relationship with the employee unions is also one of the contributing factor behind its effective staff well-being management. This solid relationship enables both staff and the company to work well together, resulting a win-win partnership for both parties.

Employees are also encouraged to actively contribute in community and environmental awareness programmes through our volunteerism programme. Employees can participate in programmes such as Beyond Borders – an educational programme aimed at improving English proficiency among students from primary schools adopted by Malaysia Airports. Employees also participate in the yearly Green Day programme - a two-pronged employee engagement activity which aims to stimulate environmental awareness and to enhance camaraderie among its staff.

Malaysia Airports operates 39 airports in Malaysia – 5 international, 18 domestic and 16 Short Take Off and Landing ports (STOL ports). The success of managing these 39 airports lies in the strength and commitment of its more than 9,000 staff nationwide, along with a good management team.
