Malaysia's First Outdoor Plane Observation Deck Opens At KL International Airport

Anjung Spotter Positioned to be the Next Joyful Experience and Insta-worthy Spot for Aviation Enthusiasts

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports has officially opened the country’s first outdoor plane observation deck at KL International Airport (IATA Code: KUL) today much to the delight of the 200 over guests, many comprising aviation enthusiasts who attended the historic moment. The deck that is located at Jalan Pekeliling next to Runway 32 Left (32L) was launched by the chairman of Malaysia Airports, Tan Sri Datuk Zainun Ali together with the group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin.

According to Raja Azmi, “The outdoor observation deck is a symbol of Malaysia Airports’ commitment in elevating the airport experience while creating joyful memories for our guests along the way. In the days of old, we used to see the entire family enjoying scrumptious meals near the airport while they watch planes fly past them. It was one of the wonderful family past times Malaysians used to enjoy. These days, young enthusiastic planespotters armed with cameras are spending their evenings near airports across the nation just to take priceless shots of the beautiful flying machines.”

He also added that plans are underway to make the Anjung Spotter a must visit destination for guests setting foot at KUL. “There are currently many international planespotters who fly to Malaysia to meet up with their counterparts here before going on a photography adventure at the airport.”

The deck named as “Anjung Spotter” is constructed within the 10km x 10km perimeters of KUL aims to create a joyful experience for both Malaysians and international visitors. It is the brainchild of Malaysia Airports’s social media team who listened and worked closely with its friends from the aviation community.

With the new elevated facility that can accommodate 40 people at any one time, the public will be able to enjoy and capture panoramic moments of various aircraft taking off and landing from a strategic location. Planespotters and aviation aficionados will also be delighted to know that they now have a perfect view of aircraft arriving through Runway 32L from the deck. On top of that, the Anjung Spotter will allow them to take great line-up shots from the deck.

Looking at the positive feedback that have been received from Malaysians and friends from neighbouring countries on its social media platforms so far  Malaysia Airports is looking forward to identify more locations at its network of airports to build similar observation decks to ignite the same joyful experience for the surrounding communities.
