Rotary Club Of KL Diraja’s – Inspire A Child Project

SUBANG - The Circus is coming to town! In line with the Rotary International theme this year “Be the Inspiration”, Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja (RC KLDIRaja) is organising a Circus Project. The Circus has always had a special place in the hearts of young children and adults alike. The 90-minute Circus full of adrenalin pumping, energetic show of acrobatics, bravery, accuracy in aerial stunts and thrilling acts, will inspire the child. The Swiss Dream Circus, - Inspire a Child will be on the 7th of September 2018 at Desa Park City.

“The show would not have been possible without the kind sponsorship of our Platinum Sponsor, Malaysia Airports, who graciously contributed RM40,000 and Gold Sponsor Santan by Air Asia who will be providing food for all the participants on the circus day,” said Club President Dato Seri Nelson Kwok.

“The Project would see RC KLDiRaja, host 800 children and adults from the various homes in the Klang Valley,” added Organising Chairman, Ajit Johl the Club Community Services Director.

Also present at the press conference held at the Subang Skypark Terminal earlier today was the Malaysia Airports corporate communications general manager Nik Anis Nik Zakaria who commended the club’s initiative to reach out to the children through its circus project. She said that Malaysia Airports is proud to be part of the project and hopes that the magical performances by the circus troop will inspire the children to reach for the sky in fulfilling their dreams. “Practise makes perfect, and we want our children to realise that these world class circus acts are about talent honed to perfection through hard work and perseverance.”

According to Nik Anis, this project is part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework under the pillar of Education and Youth Leadership. One of the programmes - called Beyond Borders with the tagline 'Give Them Wings and Let Them Fly' is Malaysia Airports flagship CSR programme. Its main objective is to improve English language proficiency levels among primary school children. Thus far, there are more than 30 schools nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak, that have been adopted under the programme benefiting more than 30,000 students.

"We have brought about 100 students from our Beyond Borders schools as a reward for their hard work and good academic performance especially in the English language. Above all, we want the children to have a good time. This is also in line with our mission to create joyful experiences by connecting people and businesses. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the circus at least once in their lifetime!” Nik Anis added.

As platinum sponsor, Malaysia Airports has committed RM40,000 to RCKLDiRaja in aid of the project.

Besides providing an evening of fun and laughter for the children, the circus project is also a fund raiser for the Club’s activities. RCKLDiRaja welcomes sponsors and can be reached at community@rotarykldiraja.org or +6019 2222898.
