Update on klia2 - Third Day Operations

Kuala Lumpur, 5 May 2014 - The third day of operations at klia2 with Malindo Airways, Lion Air, Tiger Airways International and Cebu Pacific Airways continues to run smoothly.

From 12.01am on 4 May until 12.01am on 5 May, a total of 52 flights movement and 7,300 passengers were recorded for both international and domestic, arrivals and departures. There were 32 total flights from Malindo Airways, 6 from Lion Air, 10 from Tiger Airways and 4 from Cebu Pacific Airways. klia2 has handled 20,500 passengers since its opening on 2 May.

The public transportation systems at the Transportation hub including Taxi, Bus and Express Rail Link (ERL) have also seen an increase in usage by the public with a total of 541 taxi trips and 263 bus passengers. The ERL services have also seen an increase in traffic as public become more familiar with the services.

The core operational systems at klia2 such as the check-in system, baggage handling system and the passenger boarding bridge (aerobridge) continues to operate efficiently.

On the commercial offering, a total of 219 shops comprising of F&B and retail outlets have started operating at klia2 since 2 May. 103 of these shops are at the klia2 terminal while 116 are at Gateway@klia2. These provide the passengers and public with ample choices for shopping and dining upon arrival or while waiting to catch their flights.

The passengers are reminded to contact their respective airlines in advance to confirm details of their flights, especially the departure and arrival terminal to avoid any inconveniences.

AirAsia, AirAsia X, Indonesia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia and AirAsia Zest will start to operate at klia2 starting on Friday, 9 May when all their flights will arrive and depart from klia2.

Malaysia Airports would also like to advise passengers to continue observing proper time management to ensure they arrive at the terminal in timely manner for their flights. Check-in counters are open 3 hours prior to flight time and closed 1 hour before flight time.
