Work To Repair Damaged Fibre Optic Cable Near Redq, Airasia’s Headquarters Has Started And Due To Complete Today

SEPANG - Approximately at noon today (19 July 2018), one of our appointed contractors who was doing rectification works to the water pipe supply near RedQ had accidentally caused damage to the fibre optic cable. While this has caused interruption to the communications system at RedQ, it has not caused any disruption to the communication systems at KLIA Main Terminal and klia2.

We regret this unfortunate incident, but we are working closely with the contractor to ensure that rectification works is completed as soon as possbile. Work had started at 4.30 pm today and is expected to complete by 7 pm. We will provide further updates on the progress.

Meanwhile, we are also working closely with AirAsia flight operations to ensure that there are no flight delays caused by this. AirAsia flight operations at klia2 has confirmed the same, that there have been no flight delays caused by the incident so far.

We will also be launching an investigation as to how the damage could have happened as the contractor had been provided with both the Single Line and Cable Routing Diagrams as guidance before before work had commenced.
