1H ‘22 Total Passenger Traffic For Malaysia Increases By More Than 6 Times

SEPANG – Malaysia operations recorded more than 6 times increase in 1H ’22 for total passenger movements when compared to the same period in 2021. From January to June 2022, Malaysia Airports registered a total of 20.25 million passengers through its network of airports nationwide. The active resumption of foreign carriers and international routes contributed to the encouraging performance. 

Higher Daily Average Passenger Movements Recorded In February Despite Being A Shorter Month

SEPANG - Despite February being a shorter month, total passenger movements at Malaysia Airports Group’s (the Group) network of airports continued to be buoyant, and recorded higher daily average passengers by 1,400 compared to January 2023. This was driven by the school holidays in Malaysia and also the increased flight frequencies by airlines in Türkiye. For February 2023, the Group registered 8.3million total passenger movements whereby 3.9million were international passengers and 4.4million were domestic passengers. 

Monthly Passenger Movements In Malaysia Hit 6 Million Mark For The Second Consecutive Month

SEPANG - Local airports within the Malaysia Airports Group (the Group) registered 6.3 million total passenger traffic movements for the month of January 2023. This is the second consecutive month in which total traffic hit the 6 million mark and it represents 75.0% recovery against pre-pandemic levels. International traffic fared well with 2.8 million passenger movements recorded, similar to levels seen in December 2022. This 62.5% recovery against 2019 levels was mainly driven by China’s reopening of international borders early last month.

Highest Monthly Passenger Movements For 2022 Recorded In December With 6.8 Million Passengers

SEPANG - Monthly passenger movements reached a record high in December 2022 for Malaysia Airports' (the Group) operations in Malaysia with 6.8 million passengers. The year-end holiday season had contributed to the significant 31% increase from the preceding month and enabled the Group to reach 50% of 2019 levels for Malaysia operations. From the 6.8 million, 2.9 million were international passengers, the highest recorded to-date since border reopening in April; and 3.9 million were domestic passengers, a  33% increase from November 2022.

Monthly Passenger Movements Cross Five Million Mark For Malaysia Airports Group

SEPANG – Monthly passenger movements for the Malaysia Airports group of airports including Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG) in Turkey crossed the five million mark for the first time in 2021 in December. The Group registered a total of 5.35 million passenger movements where Malaysia operations contributed 3.11 million or 58%, and ISG contributed 2.23 million or 42%.

Monthly Passenger Movements In Malaysia Passes 2 Million Mark For The First Time Since The Onset Of The Pandemic

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports’ network of airports in Malaysia recorded a total of 2.3 million passenger movements in November 2021, passing the 2 million mark for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in April last year. The 77% increase from the 1.3 million recorded in October was mainly contributed by domestic passenger movements which continued to improve since the easing of interstate travel restrictions. Airports in Malaysia recorded a total of 2.15 million domestic passengers last month, an 82% increase from 1.18 million passengers in the preceding month.
