Airports Nationwide Ready To Welcome Travellers And Remain Vigilant In Implementing Safety Measures

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports is glad to welcome travellers back to its network of 39 airports today with the lifting of local and international travel restrictions. Despite low passenger volume, airports nationwide remained in operations throughout the pandemic and had used the lull period to ensure a safe airport experience in anticipation of travel resumption. Apart from the implementation of safety measures to restore air travel confidence, facilities have also been upgraded to further enhance the travelling experience.

Penang International Airport Welcomes First VTL Passengers From Singapore

SEPANG – Penang International Airport (PIA) welcomed its first passengers travelling under the new Singapore-Penang Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) By Air  Programme today. Flight AK1730 by AirAsia was the first VTL flight to touch down at 6.40 pm carrying about 60 passengers under the programme. The aircraft  received water cannon salute while passengers were greeted with mementos to mark the special occasion. Penang is the second Malaysian destination introduced after Kuala Lumpur under the Singapore-Malaysia VTL programme. There are four airlines operating under this programme i.e.

Penang International Airport Cleans Up And Carries Out Repair Works After Storm Hits The Island

PENANG –Penang International Airport (IATA Code: PEN) has cleaned up and carried out repair works after a storm hit the island on Friday night. Despite the damages to the airport, we are glad to share that no passengers were injured during the ordeal.

Some of the damages that incurred included partially torn roof and ceiling and broken glass doors and signage. A car was also reportedly hit by a damaged sculpture.

Airlines Cooperations Required To Ensure Optimum Service Level At Penang International Airport

Sepang – Penang International Airport is operating at full capacity and it is imperative that all parties work towards optimizing the operations at the airport. Despite the concern voiced out by the airport operator several days ago, the situation in Penang International Airport remains the same as before where only about 70% of the check-in counters are being utilised by the airlines.

Malaysia Airpports Further Enhances Flash Flood Mitigation System At Penang International Airport

PENANG – Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (Malaysia Airports) is confident that the latest enhancement to its flash flood mitigation system will further improve the situation at Penang International Airport (PIA) during heavy rain and thunderstorm. The latest enhancement takes the form of the construction of two open drains at the inner lane of the kerbside area, which will drain out faster overflowing water from the monsoon drain located underneath the kerbside. This enhancement was completed at the end of December 2015.

These parties are required to abide to the standard procedures upon receiving their guests at PIA, effective today, 1 March 2016.
